THE IMPORTANCE OF GOD'S WORD
(All
quotations are from the German Schlachter 2000 and translated into formal English.)
" ... my words
shall not pass away ..."
(Words of Jesus in Matthew 24:35)
"But without faith it is impossible to
please Him: for he that comes
to God must believe that He is, and that He will reward
those that diligently seek Him."
(Hebrews 11:6)
"Therefore
faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." (Romans
10:17)
"The Word of God
is living and active and sharper
than any two-edged sword, it penetrates
even to dividing of both soul and
spirit,
also both marrow and bone,
and it
perceives the thoughts
and intentions
of the heart."
(Hebrew 4:12)
"So the Word of the
Lord spread powerfully and prevailed." (Acts
19:20)
"And take the
helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of
God.."
(Ephesians 6:17)
"That
is why we constantly thank God for each of you [true believers], when you all received
the preaching of the Word of God, which you all have not considered to
be the word of men, but is in reality, the Word of God, which
effectively works in all who believe." (1
Thessalonians 2:13)
"... the Word of
God abides in each of you [true believers], and each of you has overcome evil" (1 John 2:14)
In summary, these verses say that the Word of God:
- imparts faith into believers
- is living, active and cuts through
all our resistance
- penetrates and discerns believers
secret intentions
- prevails powerfully over all
circumstances
- is the Sword of the Spirit
- effectively works in believers for
God's purposes
- lives in true believers, so that they may overcome it all.

you read your translation do you ever have an uncomfortable feeling
about it? Does it see to puzzle you sometimes? Does it seem
to be lacking something, but you cannot "put your finger on it"? Or like some, does it seem to empower you?
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make each of you [true believers] free. (John 8:32)
