HANNOVER, GERMANY, EARLY 1900s                             "Hannover : The Eilenriede : The Maze-Garden"

Behind the people is a sort of maze or labyrinth (Irrgarten) with paths to follow. Children would of course play in this maze.
Note that the baby buggies were quite ornate. Some of the women are carrying umbrellas, in case of rain.
Also note that the boy on the left seems to be wearing a "Tom Sawyer" style hat. In the rear (zoom in) can also be seen an oil or gas lantern on a post.

The Eilenriede was and still is a "forest-park" in the middle of Hannover, kind of akin to Central Park in NY. The park was first donated to the people in 1371.
