Upper: Ceiling inside the home of C.A.
Heineken (1751-1818), Mayor of Bremen and author of "Heineken's Golden
Book"

to the 1700s); similar artwork exists today in the Old City Hall (Alt
Rathaus).
Lower: Front of the same home today.
NOTES
- The rear of this home was going to be destroyed to widen the
street on the rear side of the house, but once they discovered the
paintings on the old ceiling after removing a false ceiling, because of
its historical significance, it became protected by law and so the
entire house was preserved. Today it is owned by a preservation
society, who have some of their offices in this house.
- The Mayor was the brother of Johannes Heineken (1761-1851).
Johannes was the
grandfather of C.A. Heineken of Millpark.
- The second floor is so weak they do not actually use it. A false
floor (with steel beams) was installed over the old second floor so as
to put all load on the false second floor.
- These photos were taken by Walter Dale Horning, who visited the
home on 10 Sept 2001, along with his wife and cousin Renate von
Rüden.
